Serves: 6-1/4 cups
Ingredients
  • 3 cups distilled vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2-1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • ½ tablespoons ground nutmeg
  • ½ tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 3 cups tomato paste
Instructions
  1. Bring vinegar, water, sugar and salt to a boil.
  2. Whisk in spices. Once spices are mixed well, whisk in the tomato paste and bring to a simmer.
  3. Simmer the ketchup for at least 10 minutes, over low heat and stir frequently, till your reach your desired thickness.
  4. Cool, bottle, and keep refrigerated.
Notes
For 3 cups of tomato paste, you will need 4 (6-ounce) cans.
