Idaho is 150 years old this year.<\/b><\/p>\n
My husband and I were both raised in Southern California, we are beach bums, who soaked up our fair share of the sun. Yet over the the last 40+ years, while raising 5 Idahoans, we have grown to adore our state.\u00a0 We love the glorious mountains, lakes and rivers, amazing amounts of wilderness, colorful sunsets, and all of the agriculture.<\/p>\n
Spuds made us famous, but we grow more corn than potatoes now.\u00a0 Some of my greatest friends are Idaho potato farmers.\u00a0 Our state boasts bumper crops of the best grain, onions, sugar beets, apples, peaches, cherries, and grapes.\u00a0 We also produce remarkable amounts of dairy products.<\/p>\n
With that in mind, I wanted an ice cream dessert for our sesquicentennial party this summer.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\nIdaho Ice Cream Squares<\/h2>\n
I chose crispy potato chips for the crust, and peaches and cream for the ice cream filling.\u00a0 Garnish with caramel, whipped cream and top with a fresh peach slice for a winning dessert.<\/p>\n
I like to have it all ready to serve, \u00a0in a 9×13″pan<\/a>, and in my freezer.\u00a0 I know, it’s more fun to lick the churn, but this is a whole lot more convenient.\u00a0 Enjoy one of my best ways of having a “freezer dessert,” ready and waiting, for unexpected guests, family, and friends.<\/p>\n
