This is all you need for a family treat that serves 8-12 appreciative fans. \u00a0Throw all but the vanilla chips in a big mixing bowl and whirl away for 2 minutes. \u00a0I also decided to add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to my cake, cause we all just love a good dose of vanilla! \u00a0Stir in vanilla chips…Grease or spray your crock so the cake won’t stick. \u00a0Set your timer for 5 hours. It takes 5 to 6 hours depending on your pot. \u00a0Yes it will burn\u2026you can relax, not leave town!<\/div>\n

Now, put it in a sweet shady spot, and plug it in! \u00a0Whoo-whoo…Please come back for the big reveal in just 2 1\/2 to 3 1\/2 hours,\u00a0when we will be dishing it out for you! \u00a0So now drum roll please…the baked cake comes to the top of a 3 quart crock pot.<\/div>\n

Just spoon it out and add a little ice cream and topping. I made a simple huckleberry sauce. Our home is comfortable and cool, and you will find that no matter how you make this it is a real treat four seasons out of the year.<\/div>\n

\nAh-ha: I always serve this with ice cream and often a sauce when I’m at home or traveling in our RV. My car has a socket in the back and I love to put my pot in a box and let the cake bake while we are traveling through Yellowstone Park for our picnic, rafting down a river, or playing in winter snow! \u00a0Just know, this cake doesn’t just bake on your porch.<\/span><\/div>\n

Summer blues? Beat the heat by plugging your slow-cooker in outside and bake a Crock-Pot Cake. It’s awesome served with ice cream or whipped cream…enjoy!<\/div>\n

Ingredients<\/div>\n

  • 1 cake mix (I used white)<\/li>\n
  • 1 small box instant pudding (I used vanilla)<\/li>\n
  • 1 cup sour cream<\/li>\n
  • 4 eggs<\/li>\n
  • 1 cup water<\/li>\n
  • 3\/4 cup oil, (I used canola)<\/li>\n
  • 12 oz. of chips (I used vanilla chips)<\/li>\n
  • 1 tsp. of extract (I used vanilla)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

    Instructions<\/div>\n

    1. Combine cake mix, pudding mix, sour cream eggs, water, eggs and extract.<\/li>\n
    2. Beat for 2 minutes. Stir in chips.<\/li>\n
    3. Pour into a greased crock pot. Cook on low for 5-6 hours, depending on your cooker.<\/li>\n
    4. I have a friend who bakes hers on high for 3-4 hours…I’ve never tried it.<\/li>\n
    5. I always cook mine on low with great success. Set a timer.<\/li>\n
    6. Check it visually and with a toothpick in 5 hours.<\/li>\n
