If you like German Chocolate Cake, it’s time to shake it up a bit. This cake has some serious magnitude!<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Sprinkle 1 cup of coconut and 1 cup chopped nuts on the bottom of a 13×9 greased pan.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Mix a German Chocolate Cake Mix according to package instructions.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n

Pour the batter into the pan over the coconut and almonds.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n

Cream well together butter, cream cheese and powdered sugar.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n

Drop creamed mixture in globs on top of the cake batter, avoiding the sides of the pan.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n

Sprinkle with 1 cup of chocolate chips.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Bake in 350 degree oven for 35 minutes. It will crack on the top and appear undone.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Never fear…it’s done! Cool on a cooling rack.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Just wanted you to see the fault lines…<\/p>\n

Earthquake Cake<\/span><\/p>\n
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
2. Sprinkle on the bottom of a greased 9×13″ pan:<\/div>\n
    \n
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (I used almonds)<\/li>\n
  • 1 cup shredded coconut<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    3. Mix a German Chocolate Cake Mix according to package directions. Pour it over the nuts and coconut in cake pan.<\/div>\n
    <\/div>\n
    4. Cream:<\/div>\n
      \n
    • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened<\/li>\n
    • 1\/2 cup butter, (1 stick) softened<\/li>\n
    • 2 cups powdered sugar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      5. Spoon creamed mixture on top of cake mix in globs, making sure not to touch the sides of the pan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
      <\/div>\n
      6. Sprinkle with 1 cup of chocolate chips.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
      <\/div>\n
      7. Bake at 350 degrees for 34 minutes. It will crack on top and appear not done. Cool on a cooling rack in pan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
