USE DIFFERENT COLORS
Color code the eggs according to age group, or for each child. Then, hide the eggs according to the age of the child. Hide the eggs for older children up higher or in more difficult places and place them in more accessible places for younger children. This helps the younger children have a chance to get their own eggs without the older and faster kids getting them first.
KEEP TRACK OF THE EGGS
Remember how many eggs you’ve hidden and where you hid them. This is especially important if you use real eggs, not plastic ones.
SET BOUNDARIES
Tell the little hunters where you have hidden the eggs so they don’t go off in the wrong direction. Be sure to keep an eye on them, especially if they are outside.
MESSAGES
Write each child’s name on an egg. The first child to find their special “name egg” wins a prize!
GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR “BASKET”
Have children create their own “baskets.” Before the hunt, have each child decorate a paper bag with markers, stickers and more.
ADD DIRECTION TO THE HUNT
Give each child a checklist to follow. For example, have one child collect 3 blue eggs, 2 pink eggs and 4 yellow ones, and another collect 3 green eggs, 2 blue, and 4 red ones. The first child to complete their list wins a special prize.
DON’T LET RAIN DAMPEN THE FUN
If the weather does not cooperate, hide your eggs inside! If you don’t want to hide eggs in your house, substitute jelly beans or chocolate eggs instead. They can be challenging for even the most skilled hunters.
THE GOLDEN EGG
Write “Congratulations” on just one egg. When all the eggs are found, ask who found the special egg. Give that child a special prize!
