Cheers! The Abolitionists

Cheers! The Abolitionists

Today Renee and I are cheering for a cause we believe in.

It makes our stomach churn and is uncomfortable to talk about.  BUT it is too important NOT to bring your attention to it.

What is this epidemic? Child sex trafficking.

Today we are cheering for The Abolitionists Movie and the heroes fighting for these children.

There are over two million enslaved children forced into the sex industry.  This is a story about their rescue and the team’s exploits as they investigate and liberate enslaved children from around the world.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

Edmund Burke

Save The Children | The Abolitionist Movie

On December 10th, 2013 Special Agent Tim Ballard turned in his Homeland Security badge and resigned from his employment with the United States government. He had spent over a decade rescuing children from child sex tourism both domestically and overseas.

These children constitute over 90% of the children lost to child sex slavery and he could do nothing to help them while in the employment of the US government.

Renee and I had the life-changing opportunity to watch “The Abolitionists” a couple months ago.  We sat next to the heroes who were risking their lives on the screen.  Watching their faces during the movie and seeing how committed they are to this cause was life-changing for us.

We knew we wanted to help but we didn’t know how. Until now.

WE CAN ALL DO SOMETHING.

The Abolitionists is a movie that will bring this desperate problem to the attention of the masses. But only if the masses go and see the movie.

On May 16th, 2016 The Abolitionists is being released in limited theaters.

Help fill movie theaters! Share the movie with your friends, family, coworkers and community.

If enough people buy tickets, more theaters will open up and more people will join the fight. We need to send a message to Hollywood that this should be a top priority for people and governments around the world.

Educate yourself on Operation Underground Rescue and their mission to rescue these lost children.

We need every single person to help end this.

This is the time for change.  Stand up for what is right.

Become an Abolitionist.

If you want to do something now, share this article with your friends and family.

It costs you nothing but could save a life.

The kitchen is definitely my favorite place in any home. I love cooking but I also love how it brings people together. Although we lived in different cities growing up, I consider Sugar City, Idaho to be my hometown. Now, my husband and I live in Meridian, Idaho with our three not-so-little kids. My life is filled with good food, friends, and family—and it’s even better when I can find a great deal!

This topic is incredibly hard to swallow. You are right, thinking about it makes my stomach churn. I have three littles of my own. I commend you for bringing light to child sex trafficking and not letting it be hush hush.

Good for you for posting this. I will say I hadn’t heard of this release but I am glad! What a terrible world we live in these days. In Europe, this disgusting ‘practice’ is so prevalent, it makes my heart heavy. How are we not doing more to protect these little lives?!

Sadly, these things are going on – and even worse? People (many times) are too busy wrapped up in the Kardashians to care about anything outside their immediate homes!

I was surprised to see it is showing at several theaters in my area unfortunately though with only one showing per day. Very important topic. I hate that it really takes lots of people coming to the theater to get a reasonable amount of showings of independent films and documentaries.

I know! I hope that there is enough interest that theaters will be playing it more than once a day.

This makes me sick. I hate how evil people can be and do such horrible things to innocent children. Thanks for spreading the world, i’ll watch a movie and tell everyone i know to do the same, we can’t be indifferent when it’s about this topic.

These are such sad stories. I’m a teacher and it scares me to think of what happens to children who don’t have anyone looking out for them, like my lucky students do. Thank you for sharing the information about this film. I’m sure it will play in NYC because basically every movie does.

What is wrong with the world. Really. I cannot even think of this cruelty. I cannot even believe that this is an issue , my mind denies. Sometimes I wish I would wake up and every darkness would be gone.

This is a very hard topic. It reminds me of my trip to Vietnam… I was having a beer with a local when we saw on the other side of the street a group of girls, no older than 14, all wearing make up and provocative clothes. He told me that they will have sex with foreigners for money, and that they come to Saigon from the small poor villages of the countryside, in order to make money. And some are event sent by their parents…. and this feels so sad…. 🙁

Oh, that is so tragic and heartbreaking that some girls are put in those positions out of necessity. I hope we can stop this one day.

Child sex trafficking is a horrible thing that is happening almost in every corner of the world & The Abolitionists movie is a wonderful idea to bring attention of the same to the outside world. I believe we all could stand united against such horrible reality happening around us.

This reminds me of a movie I watched based on a true story of how a UN worker fought white slavery (prostitution) in a country under the auspices of UN… and how it was the people who work for the UN were also involved in the trafficking. The one I am talking to, I can’t remember the title of the movie, was not related to child trafficking, but it is still trafficking. I will be on the lookout for this one!

This is a horrible truth and its just sad to know that there are individuals doing something totally disgusting to others especially the younger ones. Sometimes it makes me think if they have children of their own or they just dont care.

Movies with advocacy aside from entertainment is a great movie because it gives voice to those featured in the movie and a great way to make people be aware of something that we should stand for

I have recently read a book about trafficking and moderm slavery (it was in Greek, so I can’t recommend it to you) and I really lost my sleep over this matter. It’s unbeleivable how many children are being abused in so horrible ways all around the world. I haven’t watch this movie, but I will try to find it and watch it. Thank you.
