Road Trip USA: Ashton, Idaho & Mesa Falls
A smoky, cloudy, sky and the majestic Grand Tetons. We never tire of living near these mountains.
Amber waves of grain, almost ready to harvest.
A young fisherman having the time of his life at Warm River.
Floating beautiful Warm River.
Lower Mesa Falls, Henry’s Fork, Snake River.
Long may they wave.
Upper Mesa Falls.
Wildflowers and evidence of the first signs of autumn at Mesa Falls, Idaho.
God’s incredible water feature.
Sunset on Swan Lake.
Spurred on by my friend Debbie @ Words On Wheels, we wanted to share some “local color!” We headed to “Juds” for the burger of a lifetime. It’s an Idaho thing, but people come from all over the world, to order these amazingly good and humongous burgers. My boys are pictured on the wall for taking down the BIG JUD=1 pound burger. When they gather for Christmas, they are planning to conquer the double and get on the wall together. ;D We ordered a double,(below) and ate half of it, (no bun for me) and we rolled outta there!
While we were there, 6 great guys from Utah, (up for guys weekend, and lots of fishing), came in ready to do their “Man vs. Meat” thing! Between the 6 of them they ordered 13 pounds of burger…yikes…wondering if they keep a defibrillator in the backroom?
Ready to tackle a QUAD…you got it, 4 pounds of burger! This guy is a character…and when we left he had taken down half of this thing….
I know, I know…..
I know, I know…..
A berry sweet strawberry-vanilla special ending to another great day in Idaho!
I love your local color!! Yep. I’ll be putting triple the pennies in the travel jar for that trip west. I was completely drawn in by the beauty of your first pictures. Truly, you can see the fingers of God out there… Awesome.
And then, the “Juds”. I think that any place which dubs it an honor to down something like that is going to HAVE to go on my “must see” list. Going there with men would have to be double the fun.
And… Raise your hands if you like the new fall blog look. (raising hand…)
Raising my hands for the new look as well!!
Love your local color. Would love to hop out west and try the burger place but my husband would have to do the big eating. (I will have to save more pennies than Debbie however. She will drive and I will fly).
Your pictures are just fabulous. There is just something special about the majesty of nature.
Remember when we were talking about your family adopting me and mine? I’m serious! Can we come over to play? 🙂 Gorgeous pics and I love your new “fall” header up there. I’m feeling like a caramel apple now, oh and an enormous Quad burger. You should call Adam Richman from Man vs. Food and get him over there!
Lots of yummy love,

Wow, your photos are wonderful, and I love your new header. Fall is definitely here. I can’t even imagine a 4 pound burger. Scary.
Gnee, your pics are stunning really! I have been to Ashton when I went to Ricks years ago, but someone I remember the beauty, but not the falls. I saw your header on Boise State — congrats! My son was watching it last night. That same son would love to have his name on the wall at Jud’s…love the people pics at Jud’s too! Joni
