Creamy Italian Chili

Are you ready for some super football?
We aren’t so much, but we do like the food and we are cheering for the 49ers! Here’s what we’re taking to our family party…yummo…
So for those of you who can’t get enough Chili, here’s a creamy version what will have you shouting, “Mama Mia, that’s a good chili!” Creamy Italian Chili is our winning version is full of flavor and a snap to prepare.
Creamy Italian Chili
Note: Crockpot Version, brown the sausage, drain any fat and then throw all but the cheese in a slow cooker. Slow cook for 8 to 10 hours, and sprinkle with cheese.
Here’s last year’s popular Super Maple-Bacon Snack Mix
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
- ½ pound mild Italian sausage, remove casings and break up
- 1 (29 oz) can tomato sauce
- 2 (14.5 oz) cans diced tomatoes with juice
- 2 (15 oz) cans white beans, with liquid
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 Tablespoon parsley, chopped
- ½ to 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 teaspoons Better Than Bouillon, (I like beef, but you can use any flavor)
- 1 cup water
- 1 (8 oz package) cream cheese, cubed
- Parmesan or mozzarella cheese, finely grated
- Combine onion, garlic and sausage.
- Sauté till meat is no longer pink.
- Drain any fat.
- Add tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes, beans, pepper, celery, seasonings, and water.
- Let simmer on low, stirring every 15 minutes for 3 hours.
- For a chunky chili serve as is or for a smoother chili, mash with a potato masher.
- Garnish with grated cheese.
Happy Superbowl Weekend all!
Football food is a favorite of mine too-sounds great! Happy Weekend and have fun watching the game:@)
Oooooh that sounds good. We’ll be watching and snacking too!
Now that sounds like an anytime recipe, especially for those of us in the cold and rain. I wonder how it would taste with ground turkey instead of sausage? I’ve removed most meats from my diet, except for occasional chicken, trying to keep up the fight against my cancer. Not sure if the meat makes a difference or not but mentally it does for me. I’m going to show Steve this recipe, when he wakes up on this lazy Saturday, and find out if that sounds like a good meal for during the game.
That does sound yummo!!! Perfect for a football game or any day!
I love the texture of this soup. This would be so great for kiddies who often get turned off by the beans and the chunks of tomatoes. I am definitely pinning this.
Do you add the cream cheese at the very end before serving?
This looks delicious to me. Even though I do have an electric burner and slow cooker to use in the kitchen right now, I still sure don’t want to make any more mess in that kitchen than I already have. Oy! It had better be worth it when this project is done. Pinning for future reference!
That looks like the ultimate comfort yumminess!
Looks like you have been busy too! We have been in and out of town for the past two months and my youngest daughter got engaged (haven’t even had time to post about that) and now my youngest son got his mission call to Seoul Korea, South, the new mission and wouldn’t you know he was to report to the MTC on her wedding day – within the same hour (not gonna happen) so we had to bribe her and she moved her wedding up one day! And then we are in charge of the STake Trek the next week – yes I think I will lose my mind! But before you know it, it will be over! Hope you are having fun.
Just looking at my sideboard and decided to come here and tell you something.
I miss this blog.
That’s all.
